Hi, I’m Sigal

Trustee & Alumni Parent

Sigal Wilnai has a longstanding connection to Compass High School. She is both a Compass alum parent and the parent of the school's PE teacher, athletic director, and coach.

A children's book writer with an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts, Sigal pairs creative storytelling with a practical and intuitive approach to problem solving. She holds a BA in English from Stanford University and an MBA in Marketing and Operations Research from Tel Aviv University. For many years, Sigal volunteered with a number of local environmental organizations as a docent and hike leader. This, as well as her experience working as a teacher's aide in both elementary and preschool settings when her children were young, reflect her long-standing interest in education.

Sigal spends her weekends taking long solo hikes and backpacking trips. She is deeply involved in wilderness preservation, most particularly in protecting Alaska's Brooks Range. She brings this passion and her dedication to education and community to her role as Compass trustee.
