Creative Arts Program
At Compass, the creative arts are for everyone. Students explore music, visual art, theater, and performance in ways that build skill, confidence, and self-expression. Some students arrive having never picked up an instrument or called themselves an artist. Others come with experience but want a place where they feel safe to grow.
In our program, students learn by doing. They write, paint, rehearse, perform, and collaborate. They learn how to share their ideas, take creative risks, and support one another. The arts are not just an extra activity — they are part of how we help students discover their strengths.
By the end of the year, students often surprise themselves. They perform on stage for the first time. They display artwork in front of a crowd. They try something they once thought was “not for them.” That transformation — from hesitant to confident — is one of the most powerful parts of our program.
Students have opportunities to take on different roles — from performing and exhibiting their work to supporting peers behind the scenes. Teachers provide structure and encouragement so that each student can grow at a pace that feels challenging but achievable. Along the way, students begin to see themselves not just as participants, but as creators.
Performances and Community Events
Our creative arts program comes to life through special events that bring our whole community together.
Each winter, students take the stage for our Winter Variety Show, where they sing, play instruments, perform skits, and share original work. It’s a joyful celebration of courage and creativity.
Students also participate in our One-Act Plays, where they rehearse, collaborate, and perform short theatrical productions. Through theater, they build teamwork, communication skills, and stage confidence.
In the spring, we host an Art Fundraiser that showcases student artwork. Families and community members can view and purchase student creations, celebrating both talent and growth.
These events highlight more than artistic skill. They show resilience, growth, and pride. Many of our students start the year unsure of themselves. By the time they step on stage or hang their artwork on a wall, they stand taller. That’s the real work of the arts at Compass — helping students see what they are capable of.
