Hi, I’m Milo
ASL Teacher
Milo Perilla is an ASL educator and community interpreter serving the San Francisco Bay Area. After moving to the region in 2012, he began studying ASL first at the City College of San Francisco, then at Ohlone College, where his deep community connection and early experiences volunteering at the California School for the Deaf, Fremont, sparked a lifelong commitment to language access and Deaf culture. Recognizing the value of broad education for interpreters, Milo pursued his B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Anthropology at San Francisco State University, deepening his understanding of human behavior, culture, and communication.
Milo’s teaching philosophy is shaped by both professional training and lived experience as a late-diagnosed ADHD individual. He understands the challenges of navigating education while developing executive functioning skills and strives to make learning interactive, inclusive, and relevant - particularly for neurodivergent students. His lessons combine active listening, cultural context, and social-emotional learning, creating a space where students not only acquire ASL but also gain a deeper understanding of how language shapes our everyday lives.
A lifelong classical violinist, Milo has performed with the International Pride Orchestra, works with the Golden Gate Philharmonic, and plays chamber music as a creative outlet. He carries the discipline, collaboration, and attentiveness honed through music into his interpreting and teaching. Outside of work, Milo enjoys hiking, practicing yoga, and reading. He lives in San Francisco with his two cats, Mama & Papa.
