Amanda Morin is a neurodivergent neurodiversity activist, award-winning author, early childhood and behavioral specialist, and nationally recognized speaker. She is deeply committed to creating accessible, inclusive environments for neurodivergent individuals and communities. With a background in learning and child development, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), special education, advocacy, and mental health, Amanda translates complex concepts into practical, relatable information. She empowers educators to build inclusive programs, content, and systems that reflect the full spectrum of human diversity. Amanda has contributed her expertise to a wide range of impactful projects and initiatives. She played an integral role in launching Understood.org in 2014. She then served as Understood’s director of thought leadership and expertise. She has also served as a subject matter expert for the DUCC (Developing & Using Critical Comprehension) project with the Polarization & Extremism Research & Innovation Lab (PERIL) at American University and currently serves on multiple advisory boards, including Digital Promise’s Learner Variability Project, Matan’s professional advisory board, and the American Academy of Pediatrics Center of Excellence on Social Media & Youth Mental Health Technical Expert Panel. She is also trained in special education advocacy through the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates and holds certification in UDL from the UDL Implementation and Research Network.
Amanda is the author of six books, including Neurodiversity-Affirming Schools: Transforming Practices So All Students Feel Accepted and Supported (2025), Adulting Made Easy, What Is Empathy? A Bullying Storybook for Kids, On-the-Go Fun for Kids, The Everything Kids’ Learning Activities Book, and The Everything Parent’s Guide to Special Education.
